diepifaneia_ intensive algorithmic design studio @ Ctrl_Space Lab, July 5-15, PROGRAMME BRIEF

The workshop starts with an 'initiation' process introducing all members of the study group to the basic tools provided by Grasshoper and fundamental scripting.

This 1st phase is divided in four thematic sections which will be developing step by step.

Each tutorial will be followed by the indication of the relative fabrication possibilities, and participants will be asked to follow a series of short custom-made exercises designed
to familiarise them with the relative concepts and tools.

During this stage, there will also be theoretical input by the course instructors on the following topics:

Eftihis Efthimiou:
Aupoetic Space and the Emergence of Form

Yannis Zavoleas:
Dynamic Relations as the Generator of Architecture,
From the 1960's to Contemporary Design Theory and Practice

Nikolas Patsavos:
The Complex and the Singular,
Introduction to a Possible History of Algorithmic Architecture

Vassilis Tsesmetzis:
Manuel Delanda's Interpretation of Inherent and External Dynamics
in the field of Design and Philosophy

The workshop will also provide with a group of relative theory texts and applied projects database.

The second part of the workshop aims at the production of a series of design proposals for a set of pavilions situated at an eco-tope in Greece, eg. the Nestos Delta in Northern Greece.
Each proposal will be addressed as a 'diepifaneia' in between different ecological conditions and spatial relations of a critical nature.
The final outcome of the workshop process will be discussed with invited critics in an informal Jury at the last day of the workshop.

The underlying intention is, by means of the workshop, to test the meaning and necessity of contemporary emergent algorithmic design trends and possibilities and come up with a collective paper to be published in the near future, as well as with a round table discussion-open crit and party in Athens!
The exact location will be announced soon...

We are looking forward to your contributions!

The Ctrl_Space Lab Team.
