Collective Design 1
Contemporary creative practice in
Greece
cooperation, tactics and
objectives
ASFA, Rethymno Art Station
Autumn 2015
#Collective Design
In
the light of the contemporary critical condition, the architect's collaborative
Ctrl_Space Lab, together with other creative design platforms, is initiating an
attempt to publicly discuss the new forms of collaboration and self-organisation
already present in the field of design and the arts. Architects, industrial
designers, graphic designers, photographers, web designers, typographers and
other professionals from the creative disciplines have been reordering their
forces in order to face the current technical, social and economical demands. A
group of ten collaboratives are already supporting this first public call:
andefined.com, archstudies.gr, beetroot, beforelight, ctrl_space lab, fonts.gr,
indyvisuals, notorius grey, piloiko, space under together have joined forces
with the leading architecture and design media in Greece, +design, DOMES,
greekarchitects.gr, creative survey, archisearch.gr and ek.gr. The final
objective of this initiative is the collective discussion on the topics that
will be discussed in a meeting at the Rethymno Art Station of the Athens School
of Fine Arts this autumn in Crete.
Throughout
the whole discussion process and the final meeting in Rethymno, design and art
collectivities participating will be asked to self-define their identity,
assess their practice so far and exchange ideas on the future of design on a strategic
level. Are we ready to redesign our common field collectively?
Collective Design 1 is by nature an open process. All relative
collectivities and individuals with an interest in the field may contribute to
the project's dynamics by joining our fb
group Collective Design . This is
the first and most important step towareds a collective construction of this
initiative. The project also operates the website:
http://www.collectivedesign.gr/ . E-mails and info: info@collectivedesign.gr .
On behalf of the organising committee,
Nikolas Patsavos,
Architect @Ctrl_Space Lab, Athens.
